President Appoints Chemistry Executive to Homeland Security Council
Arlington, VA (June 12, 2002) Kathleen M. Bader, Business
Group president and corporate vice president, Quality and Business
Excellence, of The Dow Chemical Company, was sworn in yesterday
as a member of the President's Homeland Security Advisory Council.
The Chemical Industry Commits
to Mandatory Enhanced Security
June
5, 2002 (Arlington, VA) The American Chemistry Council (ACC)
today made enhanced security activities mandatory for its members,
to help assure the public that all member facilities are involved
in making their neighbors and America more secure. The ACC Board
today approved a new Security Code under Responsible Care®,
the industry's award-winning initiative for improving performance,
that consists of increased specific commitments to further safeguard
chemical operations from potential terrorist attacks.
Chemical
distributors strengthen security measures.
U.S. distributors
of chemical products have taken action to force upgrades in security
to help protect against future threats to America.

Announces Early Career Award in Inhalation Toxicology
The American Chemistry Council (ACC) and the Society of Toxicology
(SOT) announce the availability of an Early Career Award in Inhalation
Toxicology sponsored through the ACCs Long-Range Research
Initiative. This award provides up to $100,000 to encourage persons
beginning their professional careers to conduct research on topics
related to Inhalation Toxicology.
